Realizing the characteristics of the soul or other spiritual aspects can come through direct experiences.
Spiritual experiences vary widely, hence there are also various opinions.
With or without spiritual experiences, the Quran is necessary to ensure the understanding of the matter.
SCIENTIFIC & MYSTICAL SIMPLICITY. Some say that indeed, the Quran has its mystical side, but they consider the mystical aspects of the Quran, such as paradise and hell, as unprovable. However, it's undeniable.
ILLUMINATING SIMPLICITY. They are unaware that the Quran actually provides clear and simple explanations, making it easier to understand and providing foundational knowledge to comprehend spiritual truths, including ambiguous verses.
The absolute truth lies in the Quran, which certainly does not contradict in all dimensions. Thus, if one involves the Quran, spiritual confusion can be easily understood.
UNFORTUNATELY, THEY MISUNDERSTAND THE QURAN, SEEKING COMPLEX VERSES BEYOND THEIR COMPREHENSION.
INITIAL STAGE OF UNDERSTANDING THE QURAN. If they chose straightforward verses (muhkamat), the boundaries of truth would be clearly illuminated. However, these are often not considered mystical verses and are therefore avoided.
ABSOLUTE TRUTH & MULTIDIMENSIONAL. These straightforward verses (muhkamat) are actually the absolute truth that forms the basis for spiritual understanding, albeit at a basic level.
Allah SWT says:
"Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, 'Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion.' They said, 'We have come willingly.'"
(QS. Fussilat 41:11)
📌 Even if heaven and earth glorify, in the context of life, it's not an issue, as there are other verses affirming the life of the universe.
Allah SWT says:
"Today, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn."
(QS. Ya-Sin 36:65)
📌 However, this does not imply an exaggerated interpretation.
Allah SWT says:
"Then when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."
(QS. Sad 38:72)
📌 Because, despite the difficulty in perceiving it, the Quran contains both relative and absolute limits. On one hand, many interconnected verses explain the relative aspects, where boundaries are discussed, and on the other hand, there are hierarchical verses that establish limits beyond which a truth cannot be exceeded.
Regardless of their views on material and non-material aspects, the limited spirit is not exclusive to living beings.
EVEN IF THEY FEEL THE MOST MYSTICAL, THE MOST ENLIGHTENED, I PREFER TO SEEK A SAFE UNDERSTANDING SO AS NOT TO SLIP INTO MISGUIDED BELIEFS ABOUT DEITY (feeling like a god, merging with God, etc.).
- In other words, even small deviations from safe boundaries can lead to significantly incorrect beliefs and are often unnoticed.
THEY CAN ARGUE US AS LIKE THIS ...
- Your (me & ourselves) Quranic interpretation is still superficial, lacking depth, unenlightened, and so on. Beginner level... not willing to be informed, not open-minded, not sophisticated, outdated, classical, shallow, and so on.
It's okay to seek a safe understanding of the Quran to avoid undermining our faith in Allah.
📌 Indeed, our interpretations may be shallow, but when Allah grants additional knowledge later on...
Allah SWT said:
"Except [when adding], 'If Allah wills.' And remember your Lord when you forget [it] and say, 'Perhaps my Lord will guide me to what is nearer than this to right conduct.'"
(QS. Al-Kahf 18:24)
